It’s become an annual tradition…the December workshop at the Mesa Community College Rose Garden with sensei Marylou Coffman. And every year it becomes more popular. Why? You may ask. Well, who could resist wandering through a garden with more than nine thousand rose bushes with one of the garden’s original designers who can tell you anything you ever wanted to know about rose gardening.
Then, in addition, would you believe… participants can cut any roses that appeal to them…white, red, purple, pink, yellow, orange, peach…and as many as they want, in order to make their freestyle arrangements and be able to take extra roses home. Incredible!
And this year, the weather really cooperated, so we could sit outside and listen to sensei Marylou explain Jiyuka to newcomers, while experienced attendees reveled in making their own colorful arrangements, all the while breathing in the scent of roses. Who could ask for anything more!
