Free Style Workshop on Saturday, August 18, 2018
Oh drat. Summer camp is over and just when we were really getting to know our fellow campers and learning more about the intricacies of the mysterious free style arrangement.
Actually, once you get to know it, it’s not so mysterious. You choose one of two basic compositions (Basic 3 will come later)…single or multiple insertion points. Decide whether you’ll create a vertical, slanting or horizontal arrangement and whether you will emphasize, line, surface, points or mass.
Okay, so it is still a bit mysterious. But, with Sensei Linnéa’s expert demonstration, individual instruction and helpful critiques, we all left camp (at Pat Maguire’s oh-so cool and comfortable club house) with a better understanding of the newest of Ikenobo arrangements and a real desire to get together with our fellow campers at the regularly scheduled workshops and our September “Friends with Flowers” event. See you all on September 22 at the Japanese Friendship Garden.
