We had the honor of studying Tatehana under the guidance of visiting teacher Jeanne Holy. Tatehana, which translates to “standing flowers,” is a prayer offering, and as such, the arrangement must evoke a sense of looking upward—toward the sky and heaven.

Jeanne Sensei demonstrated the process step by step, after which the students created their own Tatehana arrangements, applying these principles with care and intention.
