Workshop Details:

Container Guidelines
We will be outside on the Patio on the East side of the garden. I will have lots of line material and filler flowers for you to use in your arrangements.  We can all cut as many roses as we want.  I am looking forward to seeing everyone.

CHECKLIST FOR CLASSES

  • Container(s) appropriate for the workshop being taught
  • Kenzan(s)
  • Hasami (scissors)
  • Bucket for water to hold your plant material while doing the arrangement
  • Wires, wire cutters, tape (as appropriate for arrangements being taught)
  • Paper or plastic bag for debris
  • Personal Class Attendance sheet

 

WORKSHOP ETIQUETTE

  1. Arrive on time and select your table
  2. Prepare your work area
    1. Fill container and cutting dish with water. Place kenzan in the container.
    2. Place hasamis (scissors), towel, paper and pencil on table.
    3. Place branches and flowers in water and put them on the floor.
  3. Visit with the other participants but be seated and ready to start on time.
  4. As a courtesy to the professor and other students, please DO NOT TALK during the demonstration, arranging time and critiquing sessions.
  5. DO NOT start working until the demonstration is completed.
  6. Raise your hand to receive help from the sensei or professor.
  7. Throughout the entire workshop, communicate with the materials, NOT your neighbor.
  8. Remember it is the Japanese custom that no food or drink is brought into the work area.
  9. When your arrangement is completed and ready for the professor to critique:
    1. Clean your work area.
    2. Place the hasami in front of the arrangement.
    3. Get the next number and place it next to your arrangement. Then watch while sensei corrects other arrangements.
    4. Be sure a photo is taken of your corrected arrangement with your name tag.
