IWe had the honor of studying Shoka Betsuden under the guidance of visiting teacher Jeanne Holy. Shoka Betsuden is a special form of Shoka, distinguished by its ability to adapt to the environment in which it is displayed. The arrangement is shaped not only by classical structure, but also by the character of the space and the nature of the materials.

Jeanne Sensei concluded the lesson by demonstrating a Shoka Betsuden incorporating a nagashi line, illustrating how flexibility within tradition allows the arrangement to harmonize beautifully with both space and material.
